You can contact Ping at 800 474-6434 with the serial number and they can validate all the information for you on every iron set ever produced. One other note Buy a matched set and get the serial number from the seller. Compared to a new set at $800 to $1000 it's a great bargain. If you have not tried these I encourage you to spend the $200 bucks on Ebay. Another example is the original Eye2 SW was at 58 degrees. When your buddy pulls out his 8 iron and you are pulling out your 7 iron you are both actually hitting the same lofted club. You will note that the Eye2 models consistently have a higher loft on nearly every iron. Compare the specs on the original Eye2 (1983 to 1989) and compare it to any other manufacturers specs or Pings specs for their newer irons. Go to under irons and then check out the classic lists. One reason some say they don't carry as well is because they are not educated to the Eye2 loft sequence. I also had all my lofts adjusted slightly to conform with todays Ping models.
I went with Rifle shafts in place of my ZZ-Lites. Note: I have made some changes to the set that you might want to consider as well. I also have had the opportunity to test or own nearly 20 other sets of irons and the Ping Eye2 with the original non-conforming square grooves are by far the most consistent CAVITY back irons I have ever played! I am fortunate to own the 35th set of Ping Eye2 irons ever produced (BeCu Copper 2 to LW).
That includes the novice to the scratch golfer. I can't think of one model of iron that was introduced over 20 years ago and is still being used today by so many. For their age there is just nothing better!
